Dalacin T – Clindamycin

Dalacin T is a topical antibiotic medication used in the treatment of acne available in a solution or lotion. Dalacin T contains the active ingredient clindamycin phosphate.

Clindamycin is a wide-spectrum antibiotic which means it is capable of destroying or inhibiting the growth of infection-causing bacteria. It is particularly effective against Propionebacterium acnes, the bacteria which cause acne.

How it works

Dalacin T works by destroying microorganisms which carry infection. It does this by preventing each bacterium from forming a protective cell wall necessary for their survival. Bacteria disintegrate and die, stopping the spread of infection.

Using Dalacin T

Apply a thin layer of Dalacin T to the skin after cleansing thoroughly. Use Dalacin T twice daily unless you have been otherwise advised by your doctor.

Further information

This is a good treatment for mild to moderate acne. If you suffer from severe acne then please speak to your GP about a referral to a dermatologist. Severe acne needs to be treated quickly and effectively in order to prevent scarring.

Dalacin T contains alcohol, so you may find using this medicine will cause your skin to feel dry or irritated. If this is the case you may reduce usage to once daily until the irritation subsides.
