Extra Information Related to this Q&A

Sadly, as with many stories linked to Viagra the media have blown this completely out of proportion. It is worth pointing out that a real study did take place and that patient information was indeed collected from healthcare agencies from all around the world. The patient information collected was examined as part of a review into a suspected link between taking PDE-5 inhibitors and reported sudden hearing loss, and the findings of the study confirm 47 cases of Viagra-related deafness worldwide, including 8 in the UK alone. Whilst this is of course a serious side effect it is important to consider the bigger picture. Across the world millions of men have taken Viagra at least once in their lifetime and hundreds of thousands of men take a PDE-5 inhibitor every single week. Most men who use these drugs do not experience any side effects at all and are perfectly happy with its results. If anything, this story highlights that Viagra and co. are prescription medicines, and as such they do carry the risk of side effects.
